A Study on the Newspaper Columns and Social Perception about Korea Beauty Arts

Abstract
This research has been made to analyze the number of beauty arts column, key words, and the recognition of the actual beauty care according to its socio-demographic characteristics published on the newspaper from 1945 to 1999. As the result of analyzing newspaper column related to beauty arts, the cases of cosmetic newspaper column were most in 1970. The main key words were health, hair(perm and hair style), skin care and make up published on the newspaper from 1945 to 1999. The result of social perception for beauty arts using questionnaire is as follows. For the profession of beautician, there were more answers that anyone with aesthetic sense can do it. The perception of beautician`s average education was higher in high school graduation, proper level of beautician`s education was higher in high school graduation, the interest in beauty care was significantly different according to sex, marriage, education level and profession, where women were higher than men, and the single was higher than the married, and prospective beauty care(development possibility) had significant difference according to education, profession and income, and graduate school graduate group were higher than the other group; specialized job group were higher than the self-employed, employee, student group; and group with 4million won were highest by income.
